PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — Hunt Yachts introduced its new 32-foot center console to the marine press on Wednesday — two days after Hull No. 1’s new owner christened it.“It’s a bigger market than we’ve played in before,” Hunt president Peter Van Lancker told Trade Only Today. “We’re expecting to sell at least a half-dozen this year,” he said of the $269,000 base model. The Hunt 32cc is a sizable step up from the builder’s 26cc and will be showcased at several fall shows. Hull No. 2 is under construction, though not sold.

The 32cc is in line with the market trend of building center consoles that remain true to their fishing design, but are tricked out for family day tripping.

“There’s enough fish-killing center consoles in the universe. Hunt doesn’t need to build another one,” Van Lancker said. “Ours is taking the family aspect to the next level with a yachtie design, an aft-facing walk-in companionway leading to the interior with enclosed head with shower, a small galley with microwave, with plenty of seating and storage.”

The forward “J” seating accommodates eight, with an optional teak table for al fresco dining. The aft-facing molded back of the console seat features a counter area with a sink, mini-fridge, drawers and room for an optional electric grill.

Standard power is twin 250-hp Yamaha outboards. Hull No. 1, rigged with optional twin 300s, offered a smooth ride even at 50 knots on a flat calm day during a sea trial Wednesday on Narragansett Bay.

Hunt Yachts also produced a digital video that showcases the 32cc and all of its features.
