The Hinckley Company Announces New Hunt Ocean 76 Enclosed Pilothouse Will Splash This Spring.

While a pair of sisterships are cruising the Med, the first US-flagged Ocean Series 76 will begin life as a serious offshore cruising vessel this May. The new Hunt-designed 76 is the first to feature a fully enclosed, walk-around pilothouse. A major distinction between this boat, and the open flybridges of the previous ones, the enclosed pilothouse is a perfect example of how seriously Hinckley takes its commitment to individualize each Ocean Series yacht to meet an owner’s preferences.
“From the enclosed pilothouse, you have spectacular views and enhanced situational awareness,” said Mike Arieta, President and COO of The Hinckley Company. “With its walk-around deck you can just step out to dock the boat from the perfect vantage point. And the windshield and roof installations are easy to access. It’s a working zone of the boat that really works well.” For an owner who plans to pilot the boat themselves, or simply wants to enjoy privacy on the main deck, the self-contained, climate-controlled command bridge is a smart option. It is outfitted with two Stidd seats, an L-shaped settee, refrig, day head and access to a private lounging deck.
The new Ocean Series 76 is powered with twin Caterpillar 1900HP C-32s and equipped with the company’s latest CAT®Three60 precision control system with station keeping. The boat will achieve top speed of 30 knots while offering unmatched close quarters maneuvering.
The star of the Ocean Series 76 show is, of course, the legendary Hunt Deep-V hull. While some yachts in this category favor accommodations over all else, the Hunt Deep-V is designed around the principal that while luxury is important, performance offshore is critical. The Hunt Deep-V, used for commercial and military purposes as well as recreation, carries a sharp bow, deadrise throughout the length of the hull, and hard chines, all of which act in consort to deliver the most stable, dry and comfortable ride possible in any sea condition. “Yes, the boat is fast, but more importantly, it has excellent, predictable ride characteristics. Although you may not plan to go out in a steep chop, we all encounter sub-par conditions on occasion. That’s when the hull makes the difference in comfort and confidence,” said Arieta.
The Hinckley Company offers Ocean Series owners the opportunity to work with its project management and design teams to deeply personalize their boat. This latest 76 has a three-cabin en-suite arrangement, walk-in pantry, plus a private-entrance, two-person crew cabin on the lower deck. The main deck features a stunning salon with 360-degree views, an open, casual galley with island bar, and a banquette dining area opposite.
The interior is handcrafted in African mahogany with curated stone and tile surfaces according to owner preference.
The Ocean Series allows an owner to have all the benefits of a custom-built yacht, with the proven performance of the Deep-V and the backing of The Hinckley Company with its 93 years of experience and seven yacht yards. Experienced boaters will want to put the Hunt Ocean Series 76 on their short list. A sea trial should move it right to the top.
